wine friday: rabbit ridge allure de robles.

I know you’ve got a few questions about this picture, for instance:

1.  Why the heck did she pick a wine with a rabbit on the front?

2.  Why is the bottle totally and completely empty?  Like not a drop left in the whole bottle empty.  Is she a complete lush or what?

First, it was bizarre to me too that this surprisingly great wine had a rabbit on the front, and that it would hail from a vineyard called Rabbit Ridge.  I might have gone with a different name, something really french sounding, since it is a french Rhone wine after all.  But whatev.  Don’t let the rabbit fool you into not taking this wine seriously.  It was really good.

Second, I’m off to San Diego this weekend!!  Can you feel pure joy and excitement coming through your screen this very moment?  So Wine Friday turned into, well, Wine Wednesday and Thursday  But I’m hoping to have some spectacular food pics, inspirations and recommendations from San Diego to share soon.

For your consideration:  Rabbit Ridge Allure de Robles Rhone Style Red Wine

According to the winemaker, Allure de Robles is a “charming red wine made in a Cotes du Rhone style.  It is medium-bodied, barrel aged wine with notes of raspberries, blackberries, blackcurrant and pepper.”  I preferred how smooth and balanced it was.

Would pair well with goat cheese (but one might argue that just about anything pairs well with goat cheese), beef, chicken curry and couscous.

$4.99 at Trader Joes.

Happy Friday!

What about you?  Have any sub-$10 favorites?

from the comments, back then.

A friend who went to Biola just told me about your blog… LOVE it!!! yea, I love finding new blogs, especially when they’re friends of friends… and who are local.

One of my favroite wines under 10 bucks is at TJ’s, their lambrusco, both the red and white are delicious! Super sweet, so we drink them more for celebrations.
