wine friday: trader joes petit reserve cabernet.

Do you ever skip the Trader Joe’s brand in favor of a wine label that’s just more interesting?

Guilty as charged.  I’m a sucker for pretty wine labels.  You?

But I officially pledge to never do that again.  I picked up this little beauty at TJ’s at the recommendation of their resident wine guy who reminded me that Trader Joe’s purchases leftover grapes from the larger, pricier vineyards and creates wines that are far less expensive.  So I figured I’d take the $8 gamble and try this wine, made from the same grapes that are in wines closer to $15-20.

Who knew plain old Trader Joe’s brand could be so tasty?!  Also, the label boasts of “strawberry and blackberry notes with hints of chocolate and vanilla and a silky smooth finish.”  Yes please.

So good.  And so worth the $7.99 I paid for it.

Pair with Beef Stew, Cheddar or Gorgonzola, Pizzas with Meats, or Bittersweet Chocolate!

Enjoy the looooong weekend!
